What’s the deal?
Earl Grey is without a doubt the most popular flavoured black tea in the world. The name is indebted to an early 19th century British prime minister. According to one legend, a grateful Chinese Mandarin whose son was rescued from drowning by one of Lord Grey’s men first presented the blend to the Nobleman in 1803. This tea has a strong black tea flavour delicately infused with bergamot, a citrus fruit. The citrus tree blossoms during the winter and is grown in Calabria, Italy. There is something about the sweet, floral, sour and bitter flavour profile of bergamot that blends perfectly with a bold, full-bodied and malty black tea. The addition of gives it a smooth floral character and wonderful fragrance.
